Burney is the end of the line in the south. it was reached in the middle 1950’s after negotiations with many entities including Fruit Growers Supply. While the need for wooden fruit boxes ended the need for that industry, the Sierra Pacific Mill  (originally the Scott Mill, purchased by Publishers Forest Products, closed, purchased by SPI  then the location was moved a couple miles east.) at Burney has been a source of most of the Burney lines traffic.
