Trains Unlimited Tours became a regular sponsor of McCloud Railway excursions after the success of the 1994 trip with the #19. Their next event happened over the weekend of 12-13 October 1996, but this time used the freshly painted diesel #36. Passengers rode in dinner train cars, passenger flats, cabooses, and two ex-VIA Rail passenger cars leased from the Feather River Rail Society for the event.
