Imposter Cabooses

103- In the late 1980s/early 1990s a couple purchased an ex-Union Pacific cupola caboose and moved it to O'Brien, OR, where they converted it into a small gift shop. The couple reportedly once worked for Itel Rail and purchased the track materials the caboose is displayed on from the McCloud River, and due to both factors decided to paint the car up as McCloud River #103. Never officially a McCloud caboose, but occasionally confused as having worked on the road.

228- The Railroad Park Resort at Dunsmuir, CA, painted one of their ex-SP bay window cabooses converted to a cabin as McCloud River #228. Like the #103, never officially a McCloud caboose. Photo courtesy Mark Lilley, Owner and President of the Railroad Park Resort.
